A well made and well taken ninth minute strike from ex-Charlton and Brentford striker Moses Ademola proved the only goal that separated the sides when Dover Athletic visited old rivals Folkestone at The Fullicks Stadium on a warm Saturday afternoon.

This big strong Blue Square South Whites side must be wondering how they failed to increased their advantage against Ryman South Invicta in the opening 45 minutes, and, in truth their own goal was rarely threatened despite lively raids often led by teenage Invicta striker Johan Ter Horst.

Folkestone boss Neil Cugley will be better pleased with his side’s commitment than in their disappointing performance in Thursday’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of Maidstone United and will hopefully be a little closer to knowing his starting 11 for the opening league game away to John Maggs’ Crawley Down Gatwick side next Saturday, August 10.

For details of supporters travel to Crawley Down – whose clubhouse is one of the best in Ryman One South, please see the supporters’ travel section on our main website.

· Folkestone Invicta thank everyone at Dover Athletic for their participation in this fixture where the admission money from an attendance of 473 goes to the family on Invicta assistant manager Mick Dix whose always feisty wife Heather is still defying medical opinion in her brave fight against a brain tumour. God be with you, Heather.
