Folkestone Invicta took all three points as Darren Smith (penalty), an own goal and substitutes Ryan Moreby and Stuart King made up their tally in a 4-2 win away to Walton Casuals at the Waterside Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The goals were again flying in as Invicta took their tally to 15 in their last six matches, but the Folkestone side has now also conceded at least twice in their last five matches.

Saturday’s game was also notable for a flurry of bookings in what was never a dirty game as referee Simon Leaf was often at the centre of things.

Invicta fell a goal behind in the 11th minute when Glenn STANLEY shot across goal and in off the far post when Michael Barima played the ball forward down the right hand side of the penalty area.

But SMITH made it 1-1 from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after James Everitt had been impeded by Michael Akinde down the left hand side of the area.

Smith was involved again as Invicta went ahead in the 59th minute as home substitute Chris DAVIDSON turned the ball into his own net when the Invicta midfielder drilled the ball across from the right hand side of the penalty area.

Walton Casuals were level at 2-2 in the 70th minute when substitute William ADOU found the net after a ball from captain Craig Lewington fell to him after a move also involving Liam Holden.

But Invicta restored their lead in the 76th minute when MOREBY slotted the ball into the net after Smith had got in behind the home defence and picked him out.

And KING marked his return to action after a two-month absence following an operation on his arm by completing the scoring in the 87th minute when he shrugged off Barima and drilled the ball into the net after Josh Burchell had played a good ball forward down the left hand side.

Invicta had gone into the game with Edge coming back into the startling line up in place of Moreby in midfield, with Burchell at left back in a 4-4-2 formation and Simon Austin starting in central midfield.

Frankie Chappell got forward to head a seventh minute Burchell corner from the right on the roof of the net.

But it was the home side who opened the scoring as the referee played an advantage after Edge had fouled Alfie Arthur but came back to book the Invicta player-coach.

Josh Vincent was then booked in the 14th minute for sarcastically applauding an assistant referee as Invicta began the game frustrated with the officials.

Adam Fletcher shot at Invicta goalkeeper Jack Delo when Arthur broke down the right hand side and drilled the ball across in the 17th minute, while at the other end a Richard Atkins ball in from the left was touched away by central defender Richard Taylor three minutes later.

Goalscorer Stanley became the first Walton Casuals player to be booked for a 22nd minute challenge on Austin.

Holden then cut in from the right for the home side and hit a well-struck shot at Delo a minute later.

But Invicta equalised FROM Smith’s penalty after home centre half Akinde was booked for his foul on Everitt.

Fletcher became the home side’s third booking of the first half for a late 35th minute challenge on Liam Friend.

Lee Cooper shot from distance at Delo in the 41st minute after a short free kick when Chappell fouled Arthur and Arthur himself ran through and shot at Delo a minute later, with Ashley Alexander fluffing the follow up.

Home goalkeeper Gareth Williams then made a good reflex save to deny Chappell during first half stoppage time.

Atkins limped off at half time to be replaced by Moreby, with Austin moving up into attack.

Walton Casuals striker Arthur then became the game’s next booking for a 48th minute aerial challenge.

Williams did well to touch a deflected 51st minute James Everitt free kick round the post for a corner after a foul by Akinde on Moreby.

Cooper then became Walton Casuals’ final booking for a 56th minute foul on striker Everitt.

And Invicta soon went ahead thanks to Smith and Davidson’s intervention six minutes after the defender had replaced Akinde.

Friend had to clear in the middle when Holden played a 64th minute ball in from the left hand side, while Burchell was booked two minutes later for kicking the ball away after a handball decision.

And the home side equalised to temporarily cancel out Invicta’s lead before Moreby restored it.

Delo palmed an 86th minute Stanley shot from the left hand side out for a corner after a Lewington through ball when Chappell lost possession.

But King’s goal was to be the icing on the cake for Invicta. The Folkestone side has done well to maintain its high position in the league table and F. A. Trophy run in the summer signing’s absence, but the goalscorer’s return can only mean good news.

Stanley then hit a good 88th minute strike from distance at Delo.

Invicta substitute Cade Mortimer was harshly booked for handball within seconds of coming on.

Delo saved from substitute Harry Hoadley at the expense of a stoppage time corner and Holden then shot at Delo from the right hand side.

Mortimer was denied a goal deep into stoppage time when Williams saved after Smith played the ball in from the right when King found him out wide.

Invicta wore unfamiliar blue shirts – an old Walton Casuals away strip – after the referee had expressed concern that their red shirts would clash with the home’s side’s tangerine as it got considerably darker during the second half.
