Goals from James Dryden and James Everitt gave Folkestone Invicta 2-0 win in their latest pre-season friendly away to Lordswood at Martyn Grove on Tuesday night.

DRYDEN opened the scoring with a looping 33rd minute header after Ryan Moreby had played the ball across from the right hand side of the penalty area.

And EVERITT made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute when his shot found its way past the home goalkeeper and defenders after a Dryden corner from the right had found him at the far post.

Invicta went into the game with another new face in Brett Fairman at centre half alongside Frankie Chappell and both Moreby and Jason Sowle starting in midfield.

Goalscorer Everitt started the game at right back and again as captain before moving up into the attack during the second half.

Fairman’s previous clubs include Dartford and Sittingbourne and Invicta had the defender to thank for a goal line clearance in the 13th minute after Lordswood had gone round visiting goalkeeper Jack Delo down the left hand side of the penalty area.

At the other end, Dryden shot over when Moreby played the ball back to him after a Sowle through ball hit a Lordswood defender and fell into Moreby’s path.

It was Dryden who broke the deadlock in a move that started with Everitt playing the ball up the right hand side to striker Paul Jones.

Invicta’s record goalscorer Dryden has now scored four goals in Invicta’s four pre-season games so far this summer.

Central defender Chappell then cleared from close to the line when Lordswood worked the ball past Delo again in the 37th minute.

Lordswood had a few further chances in the opening quarter of an hour of the second half before Invicta took control of the game during the closing half an hour.

Moreby played the ball through to Jones on the hour mark but a home defender got back to block for a corner.

Midfielder Moreby then got up to head at the goalkeeper when the ball came across from the left hand side in the 64th minute. And Everitt’s goal increased Invicta’s lead.

A 76th minute 30-yard Darren Smith free kick was touched round the post by the goalkeeper for a corner and Moreby was then put through the middle but shot wide as Invicta threatened a third goal.

And substitute Josh Vincent shot at the goalkeeper just before the final whistle after Smith broke forward following a Lordswood corner at the other end and James Everitt took the ball on.
