Folkestone Invicta 3-2 Sevenoaks U18s - Kent County Cup Final
Sevenoaks went for goal straight from the kick off only to see the ball
sail over the bar. The deadlock was broken when referee Darcy awarded Invicta
a penalty which Simon Rainbow converted which left the goal keeper no chance.
At this stage Invicta were well on top, Sevenoaks goalkeeper seemed to have
a charmed life seeing the ball hit the post and several clearances off the line
finally the pressure was too much for Sevenoaks and they gave away a corner
which Simon Rainbow converted with a header at the far post.
Invicta went into halve time with a two goal advantage.
I am not sure what the referee had at half time but he dished out at least
eight booking within ten minutes Sevenoaks were reduced to ten men after a
bad tackle on Sam Marsh. Sevenoaks were awarded a penalty, Kieron Mann saved
and saved the rebound, Referee Darcy then instructed a retake which again was
saved only for the referee to order the penalty taken again after encroachment
by a Sevenoaks player, on the third attempt Sevenoaks scored.
In the 75 minute a Sevenoaks player throw himself on the ground with no Invicta
player within 3 yards of him referee then sent off Rainbow who appeared to be
the nearest Invicta player. In the 87 minute Sevenoaks equalized with a tremendous
goal which left Mann no chance of saving. Well into injury time Invicta won a
corner which Rob Knott scored directly from the corner at the near post.
Invicta U18s are back in action on Tuesday 26 when they play host to Maidstone
United 7.45pm kick off, then Thursday 28 are involved in the John Ullman Semi-final
against Invicta U18s Central side.
Folkestone Invicta U14 5 Tankerton 1 Report: Paul Driscoll
Tankerton took posession of the ball for the first few minutes of the game but did not really give Invicta a serious challenge. Only four minutesinto the game Invicta gained posession, Nick Holley crossed the ball to Jonathan Lewis who tapped it across the goal to Jonathan DRISCOLL to finish. Minutes later it was HOLLEY who powered the ball in the back of the net from outside the box. Throughout the first half Invicta continued to have most of the posession and attack on goal. Mark Reed set the third goal up beautifully for DRISCOLL to push past Tankerton's keeper with a 3-0 lead at the interval.
The second period started with some dull play from both teams. Play picked up when Sonny Shield placed a the ball into the goal mouth, a scrambled attempt at defence saw LEWIS tap the ball passed the keeper. Invicta's final goal came from DRISCOLL after several close shots on goal, completing his hat-trick with a lob over the keeper's head. Tankerton did not give up and came back with a sudden surge catching Invicta's defence unaware with their break, managing to score around the keeper to pull the final score back to 5-1.
Ramsgate 2 - 2 Folkestone Invicta U15's Report: Kim Gardiner
Folkestone had a chance to close the gap on leaders Maidstone
before the 2
sides meet this coming weekend. Folkestone went one down
against the run
of play and that's how it stayed until the second half, after
Folkestone
missed a hat full of chances. Folkestone drew level when Joe
Hitchings
drove home from outside the box. Folkestone went 2-1 up after Dan
Garrity
scored from a well worked corner. The game should have been over,
but Ramsgate
had other ideas, they kept battling away and equalised 2 minutes
from the
end.
Highfield 4-3 Folkestone Invicta U14's Reporter: Paul Driscoll
The game got off to a great start for Invicta with Sonny SHIELDS
scoring in the fourth minute with a lob over Highfield's keeper. Invicta
had most of the play until about twenty minutes into the game.
Highfield drew Invicta's defence out to the right and switched the ball
to the left for an easy goal from Highfield. Invicta seemed to loose
shape in the remaining minutes of the first period and Highfield took
advantage to score a second goal.
Invicta started the second period with injury from John Tsimba and
was soon down to ten men when Shields also took a knock.
Despite this they continued to play strongly with several attacks on
goal. With Shields returning to the game they gained confidence
and Jon DRISCOLL soon brought an equaliser following a free kick.
Highfield responded well with an attack on goal superbly saved by
Conyers. They soon took the lead again scoring from a corner and
then another goal from a high cross. Invicta rallied and fought back
with determination. With only a couple of minutes to go Ben
CARPENTER scored with a super header past the near post
bringing the final score to 4-3.
Canterbury City 1-3 Folkestone Invicta u15's
Another solid performance from Folkestone who started the match with
high tempo. Early in the game Dan Taylor was brought down inside the box. Taylor
took the penalty and confidently struck it into the bottom corner.
Folkestone kept the pressure on and were rewarded a second goal with some short
passes around the area, which finally found Josh Burchell at the far post, who
directed his header past the outstretched keeper. Folkestone could
have added more before the break.
The second half saw Canterbury come at
Folkestone, but it took something special to break down the defence - a 25 yard
screamer. Folkestone brought on fresh legs and Dan Garrity finished Canterbury
off after breaking free and cooly beat the keeper with a cute chip. Anoher
excellent performance with everyone giving 100%, as the team gains in
confidence.

U.15's K.C.F.A. Cup Folkestone Invicta U. 15's 3 Ramsgate U.15's 1
Folkestone continued their good form last weekend with another good win on
a heavy pitch at Lyminge. Folkestone took the lead when Dan Garrity broke
the deadlock with a cute chip over the keeper. It was soon two when Dan
Taylor finished off a good move down the left. Ramsgate pulled a goal back
and made Folkestone feel uneasy for a while, until Phil Hayes made it 3-
1 when he drove home from just inside the box. Folkestone would have scored
more if they had been a bit more composed in front of goal.
Folkestone Invicta (s) 3 - 2 Herne Bay U18`s
For the second week running Invicta played host to Herne Bay this time in the Plaaya Cup. Invicta should have been two up within the first 15 minutes but for poor finishing and had to wait until the 35th minute when Everitt`s shot took a slight deflection. Herne Bay equalised just before half time after keeper Kieran Mann had done well to save the initial shot and getting injured in the process.
Invicta fell behind from a terrific free kick which left keeper Mann no chance in the 50th minute. The home side behind for the first time in the two encounters pushed for the equaliser and had to wait until the 75th minute when the Herne Bay keeper failed to hold the initial shot Brett Ransley followed up and stabbed the ball home. 5 minutes later Invicta had what looked a good goal ruled out for offside following a good ball from Rob Knott on the left to find Everitt who slid the ball home. With extra time looming Everitt found the net in 85th minute.
Chatham Town 0 Folkestone Invicta 2
Folkestone reversed their defeat against Chatham from earlier in the
season. Both teams tried to play football the right way, but the pitch was very bobbly and play looked very scrappy at times. Folkestone took the lead with a well struck shot into the bottom corner from Dan Garrity and should have increased their lead before the break. Folkestone made it 2-0 half way through the second half when Dan Taylor headed home a delightful cross from Garrity. The squad of 16 players are improving every week and each player is playing a part in the team.

REPORTS Canterbury City Youth 1 5 Folkestone Invicta U14
Folkestone took control of the game from the first whistle and stormed into the lead
with a goal from Lewis in the second minute of the game. With super team play a
second goal was soon set up and punched home by Driscoll's powerful left foot.
They maintained control throughout the first half of the game with a third goal coming
from Lewis to finish the period 3-0.
Canterbury started the second interval much stronger with several strong shots at
goal, one being saved spectacularly by defender Lodge on the line. Invicta made a
quick break back with Shields making a lightening run and finishing the ball in the
net. Canterbury struck for goal again and again, with some superb saves by
Conyers, eventually drawing one back. The last word was Invicta's, with Smith
passing a tremendous long ball to Lewis who tucked it away confidently into the net.
Paul Driscoll
Folkestone Invicta 7 0 Milton Athletic U15s South
Invicta started at a high tempo and soon went ahead when Charlie
Gardiner scored at the far post. Dan Garrity made it 2 soon after. Phil Hayes hit the
3rd with a tremendous strike from 30 yards into the top corner and Josh Vincent
made it 4 just before the break. The second half started brightly with Tom Clark side
footing home from close range. Goals from Dan Taylor and Jon Boxer finishing off
good moves to round off a well disciplined performance from the whole squad against
a very physical team.
Folkestone Invicta 2 0 Herne Bay U18s South
Invicta turned in another solid performance against the strongly fancied Herne Bay.
The game started evenly enough until Ben Sly opened the scoring in the 6th minute
following a great individual run from the right wing cut inside and slid the ball past the
oncoming keeper. Brett Ransley scored his first of the season after a flick on by
Everitt taking the ball wide and scoring from an acute angle 10 minutes before half
time Invicta pressed for a third goal but were constantly denied by Herne Bay keeper
Iain McCracken.
The home side kept up the pressure looking to increase the score but were foiled
again by the inform keeper. Herne Bay almost breached the Invicta defence with 10
minutes left on the clock but for a good save by Kieran Mann.
Bearsted 0 – 2 Folkestone Invicta U18`s South
Invicta already short on numbers before travelling to Bearsted had an enforced change 10 minutes before kick off with two changes being made to the team selection which meant a quick reshuffle. This game was always going to be difficult, as this fixture is always a tight and physical affair and today’s game was no different. Invicta could have gone behind early in the game but for poor finishing. There were personal battles fought all over the pitch with Invicta starting to get the upper hand the visitors had several chances to open scoring. In the 34th minute Bearsted defence was split into by the impressive Simon Rainbow who found Everitt who bent the ball around the goal keeper to find the back of the net.
In the second half Invicta should have had 2 clear cut penalties when man of the match Brett Ransley was clearly brought down and the second when Simon Rainbow was brought down by the Bearsted keeper an even clear cut penalty which Referee Barty dismissed. Ransley almost added a second when he saw his shot squirm out of the keepers hand and stop on the goal line but the keeper just managed to smoother the ball. In the 80th minute Everitt scored the second goal after good work from Oliver Waters. At one stage it looked if Invicta would be reduced to ten men when a Bearsted player clattered into Sam Marsh leaving him clearly in a lot of pain but as with the determination of this squad he return to the pitch 5 minutes later.
The management team of Messer’s Denis Hunt & Timmy Todd praised their team with their work rate and commitment.

St Margarets U14 5-2 Folkestone Invicta U14
St Margarets made a strong start to the game but Invicta responded
well to
the challenge with some good defensive play. St Margarets took the
lead
after 20 minutes with a goal from a free kick. Invicta responded shortly
after with a goal from Lewis. Although Invicta led several attacks on
goal
it was St Margarets who went into the lead at half time with two quick
goals just before the end of the first period of time.
St Margarets began the second half just as strongly but again Invicta
were
first to score with a second goal from Lewis. However this time St
Margaret's
response was swift with another goal just a minute later. Although
Invicta
had their opportunities they were not able to pull the score level
despite
a superb shot from a free kick just minutes from the end by Shields.
St Margarets pushed ahead by one more goal in the dying minutes of
the game to finish 5-2 up.
Folkestone Invicta 4 – 0 Ashford Town U18`s
Invicta played host to Ashford Town after their enforced break when the away
game at Deal was cancelled due to a water logged pitch. The home side
opened the scoring within two minutes with a headed goal by James Everitt
following a good cross from the right by Ben Sly. Five minutes later Everitt
headed home again this time Tom Harling with a pinpoint cross. Ben Sly
turned goal scorer with a good shot to make it three. The second half was
dominated by Invicta with Waters scoring from the penalty spot following a
foul on Everitt. Everitt was replaced by Brett Ransley who came close to
adding a fifth. It was a game which Invicta should have won more
convincingly.

Folkestone immediately took charge of this John Smith Memorial cup tie with Shields scoring the first goal in the seventh minute. Lewis scored a further two goals and Smith a fourth before Herne Bay could manage to pull one back. Sheilds and Smith scored two more to give a half time score of 6-1.
The second period saw Herne Bay fighting back with several attempts at goal but Folkestone were too strong. Shields and Lewis each scored three and there were two further goals scored by Read and Driscoll. All round, a strong team performance by Folkestone helped them to this resounding win. Paul Driscoll
Folkestone Invicta U14 1 Deal Town Rangers U14 6
The first half of this match was evenly matched. Deal took the lead after 17
minutes but Wanstall evened things up 5 minutes later for Invicta. Half time
score was 1-1.
The second half did not see outstanding play by either side. Deal managed
to score 10 minutes into the half from a good cross. Invicta made several 7breaks to try to even the score but Deal pushed through two goals in
succession to take the lead to 4-1. Despite many attempt on goal by Invicta
they could not pull back. Invicta's defence, with some strong play by
Carpenter, tried valiently to keep out Deal's strikers but they managed to put
two more past them to finish 6-1up. Paul Driscoll

Folkestone Invicta 2 - 2 Kennington U15`s
Invicta extended their good run to 6 games without defeat this weekend.
The home side started well and scored after a good cross from Luke Jones
found Josh Vincent at the far post, who side footed the ball home. The
second came after a powerful run down the left by Josh Burchell and some
good link up play with Dan Taylor before Dan Garrity finished off a well
worked move. In the second half, Invicta were put under a lot of pressure
and paid the price for defending too deep. Invicta were disappointed to
concede 2 goals and only take 1 point from the game.

Invicta played their first game in three weeks when they played host to Long
lane in 2nd round of the John Ullman Cup. The first 20 minutes were
dominated by Invicta. At one stage it was as if the clock had gone back 24
hours earlier to the first team game hitting the post, balls cleared off the line,
good saves by the keeper etc but as the night before Invicta were hit with a
sucker punch with Long Lane opening the scoring in the 25th minute. The
lead was short lived as Invicta won a corner on the left hand side which Sly
hit towards the near post and the hapless defender headed into his own net
in the 26th minute. Invicta never looked in any trouble goals from Waters
and Taylor sealed the tie.

u18 - Plaaaya Cup 2nd Round Folkestone Invicta 8 - 0 Phoenix Sports
For the second game in a row Invicta faced northern division opponents this
time in the Plaaya Cup 2nd round. Invicta went ahead within the first 12
minutes when a shot from Everitt was parred away and the Pheonix defender
tried to clear his lines but struck one of his team mates and the ball
cannoned into the net. Invicta had to wait until the 43rd minute to increase
the lead when the keeper did to block the initial shot and Dan Page followed
up passing the ball into the open net.
Following the team talk at half time with words of wisdom from managers
Denis Hunt and Timmy Todd Invicta looked a different side within ten
minutes team changes where made with Waters replacing Knott and
Ransley replacing Page a tactical switch that paid almost dividends with
what can only described as a goal rush with Waters scoring a hat trick and
Everitt scoring a further brace with headed goals. A well worked free kick
just outside the area saw Marsh scored the final goal of this at times
physical cup match.
U15's Sevenoaks Town 1 Folkestone Invicta 2
A well deserved cup win for Folkestone against a very strong Sevenoaks
team in the Challenge Cup to send them into the next round.
Sevenoaks started the game the livelier between the two teams and

Folkestone responded very well with a good finish from Josh Burchell to

Driscoll in the first minute of the game. Invicta took control of the game from
the start with little possession by Trinity in the first 20 minutes. Driscoll
scored a second after 5 minutes followed by a goal from Shields. In the last
minute of the first half Trinity managed to pull back a goal.
Trinity came back stronger at the beginning of the second half but were not
a match to the strength and team work of Invicta. Despite Scott Wanstall
leaving the game due to injury there were two more goals from Driscoll, a
further three from Shields, one a superb shot from a free kick and the last
Invicta goal from Nick Holley. Trinity gave one last attempt on goal in the
dying minute of the game to manage to lift the score to 9-2.

The second half was dominated by Invicta with Ramsgate keeper the busiest

Maidstone 0 v 0 Folkestone Invicta 18`s South Author: PE
Invicta could not have had a worse start to this fixture with late withdrawals
because of injuries and work commitments. Invicta travelled to this fixture
with a bare squad with two of these carrying knocks from yesterdays
Reserves fixture at Welling.
There were very few chances in the first half of note the best fell to Everitt
who found time and space on the right but the Maidstone keeper was equal
to the shot.
In the second half Rob Knott should have scored after he found himself clear
in the area only to see his shot just go past the post. Oliver Waters could
have claimed all three points with the last attack of the game when a well
worked through ball from Ping put Waters clear with just the keeper to beat
but again the ball went agonisingly wide of the post.
Manager Tim Todd singled out the back five of Kieran Mann, Tom Harling,
Shaun Russell, Ben Luckham , Stuart Taylor for praise as they did well
limiting Maidstone to a handful of half chances throughout the game.

Folkestone Invicta (1) 3-2 (2) Milton Athletic - U18 South
Invicta U18`s South started the season with a splut and stutter rather than a
bang as they found themselves 2 – 0 down in the first 14 fourteen minutes
both goals were caused by defensive errors. Try as they may Invicta could
not get into the game until a good move between Jason Ping and Ben Sly on
the right led to Ping hitting a cross from the right which found Ben
Lindsey heading home in the 31st minute. Ping came close to levelling
the score when a clever chip hit the bar.
Invicta went into the second half kicking up the slope looking to get on equal
terms early into the second half and they only had to wait until the 51st
minute when a Everitt corner was hit near post for Lindsay to score
his second of the game with a header just beating the Milton keeper at the
near post. The early goal seemed to lift Invicta and only good goalkeeping
and a slice of luck kept Milton in the game. Ping almost scored Invicta’s
third only to see his shot cleared off the line. The pressure was mounting as
Invicta looked for the winning goal. The pressure was rewarded after a
lengthy delay following an injury, Invicta were awarded a free kick on the
right hand side which was taken by Ben Sly who found Everitt at the far side
of the penalty area, Everitt headed across goal into the back of the
net. This turned out to be the last piece of action.
