RESTRUCTURING ISSUES
A seasonal outbreak of peace and goodwill seems to have broken out in Ryman land. The Isthmian league chairman Alan Turvey, has informed the FA's National Game Board that no club would be "penalised" or "disadvantaged" if they resigned in order to join the proposed two-tier regionalised Conference. This puts the Isthmian clubs into line with the Northern and Southern league members, and so when the dust finally settles on the restructuring at the end of this season 2003/4, no club should be left in the lurch without a league.

The Ryman league however remain committed to their appeal against the proposed Pyramid changes which will be heard in arbitration on February 19th and 20th.

Still sounds like a power struggle to me! Lets hope that 2004 can go down in Non-League football history as the year when commonsense took over from the power brokers.

RAMBO REJOINS ASHFORD
Tony Reynolds has been appointed as Assistant Manager to work alongside 1st team manager Tim Thorogood. A former player and manager at Ashford, he has been out of football management for a couple of years because of work commitments. He is a proven organiser and motivator of players as Invictas playing squad can attest to. Rambo seemed to make a differance in the handful of games that he was "helping out" at Folkestone last season so it will be interesting to watch this particular space at Homelands.

NEW YEAR HOPES
We start the all important second half of the season this week with high hopes of turning a good solid start into a successfull conclusion in May, which will hopefully see us joining a geographically re-aligned premier league in August. Your football club seems to have come of age this season with much closer ties between management, players and supporters. Your club needs your continuing help and understanding. Ensure that we all have a fit and healthy football club for the 2004/5 season.

Mystery Loan Signing Revealed

Neil Cugleys mystery loan signing was revealed in todays Folkestone Herald as the Welling Utd midfielder Tim Hambley. It is anticipated that Tim will sign an initial one month loan as cover for what will be a busy period of games as Invicta try to reduce the backlog of games. Combative Martin Chandler serves a two match suspension missing the New Years Day trip to Erith & Belvedere and the visit of Salisbury two days later.

Cugley is hopeful that AllanTait will be fit enough to lead the front line against local rivals Ashford Town on Boxing Day. August Bank Holiday saw Invicta lose 2-1 to more determined opposition, Paul Jones replying with two goals to Taits early strike. Jones had been one of Cugleys early targets but he signed for the Nuts & Bolts, broke a leg and susequently missed most of the season. Both players will be out to impress but Tait (recovering from hamstring) is only rated 50/50 to start the game.

Wing back Drew Watkins is a very doubtful starter (cracked eye socket) and saw the specialist yesteday, fortunately in Micheal Everitt, Neil has the natural replacement.

Team spirit is very good at the Westbourne stadium and if the crowd plays its part and gives the vociferous support it generally reserves for away fixtures, then we should be witnessing another Folkestone victory on Friday. Lets make it a BIG Boxing Day crowd , kick off set for 11.30 am, and Lets hear it for the boys!

THE SUNDAY PAPERS
The end of season restructuring issue becomes an even more bittter strugggle.

It's War on Isthmian: Gladwish set to take-over Dr Martens
Source: The Non-League Paper
Millionaire Victor Gladwish within touching distance of taking over the Southern League and has declared war on their Isthmian rivals. Gladwish is quoted as saying "I will do anything I can to put an end to the Isthmian League, they stand against progress."

Gladwish, who made his money from land sales, has met with officials from the Southern League and has outline agreement to take over the sponsorship from Dr Martens in time for next season.

His next move will be to offer ALL Isthmian (Ryman) League clubs the opportunity to switch to the Southern League.

His move could play an important part in the current restructuring row, which sees the Isthmian League making a legal challenge against the FA's decision to introduce a two-tier Conference in time for next season.

The FA have this week written to clubs in the Premier Divisions of the three feeder leagues - Southern, Isthmian anfd Northern Premier - reminding them that they must resign from their current leagues by 31 Dec 2003 to be eligible for the new-look Pyramid , should it go ahead.

The Southern and Northern Premier Leagues have adopted a relaxed attitude to the procedure, telling their clubs there will be no fines or recriminations if they resign and then find themselves in no-man's land if restructuring is held up for any reason.

The Isthmian have offered no such assurance, but now Gladwish will take such fears away by offering them an alternative league.

Gladwish said "Historically the Isthmian League have opposed all attempts at reformation of the Non-League game. I want to see Non-League progress. Progress can't be held back but these people are trying to do that."

The above is part of the article that appears in Sundays edition of "The Non-League Paper."

NEWS FROM THE NET
TONBRIDGE - Walker Walks
From nonleaguedaily.com and kentonline.co.uk -

Alan Walker has parted company with Dr Martens League Eastern Division leaders Tonbridge Angels following Tuesday night's 1-0 home defeat by Kent neighbours Chatham Town.

Chairman Paul Dainty said the decision had been made to "end the uncertainty" at the club.

Walker had taken Tonbridge to a 14 point lead at the top of the Eastern Division, but three weeks ago he was told that his playing budget would have to be cut drastically if Tonbridge were to avoid going into the red.

Walker, his assistant Lloyd Hume and captain Peter Overton, initially agreed to stay on unpaid until the end of December, but since then Tonbridge have lost three consecutive league games and their lead has been cut to seven points.

Dainty said: "What were we going to do? This was going to happen anyway, so when we saw the effect the uncertainty was having on the fans and the players we decided to act."

Striker Hamid Barr and defender Tony Dolby have been put in temporary charge of team affairs.

DM CUP 4th Round Draw

FINAL SCORE
Maidstone Utd (0) 0 - 3 (2) Folkestone Invicta
This Kent Senior Cup tie was played on a cold and icy pitch up at Sittingbourne. Invicta started well and Drew WATKINS scored direct from his free kick in the 2nd minute. Anthony HOGG chipped in with his usual 'goal a game' goal in the 41st minute and at the break the score was 0-2.

The second half saw another special goal from the John Ayling catalogue. Ayling carried the ball down the right and then planted it in the goal in the 61st minute. Full time 0-3

Neil Cugley has assured me that he will be putting out the strongest team available on Wednesday night for the Kent Senior Cup tie against managerless Maidstone Utd being played at Sittingbournes Central Park.

This fixture was previously arranged for an earlier date and because of the rearrangement Mark Munday, one of Saturdays goalscorers, is unavailable due to work commitments. Adam Flanagan has a hamstring strain and will miss Wednesdays game but it is hoped he wll be available for Saturdays DM Eastern game at Fisher. Top scorer Allan Tait will not be playing, he is still recovering from his hamstring injury.

Danger: Angels at 3 o'clock

Manager Neil Cugley admitted that we were paying a price for all of our cup sucesses this season, currently four games and 22 points behind Tonbridge Angels. I suppose we must treat Saturdays visit to Tonbridge as if i were another cup tie, its just unfortunate that we might be under strength with certain key players unavaillable to us through injury. Anthony Hogg and Allan Tait are both very doubtful starters, Adam Flanagan was rested during the week but should be back at the centre of the defence. Captain Scott Lindsey needed stitches in a headwound on Tuesday but you can't imagine him not playing tomorrow. The experiance of Lindsey, Munday and Lamb should help us through the afternoon and Jim Dryden seems to have run himself back into fitness. Tonbridge were surprisingly beaten 4-1 last Saturday and the uncertainties over sponsorship have probably unsettled their preparation. All things considered tomorrows game is going to be an interesting one and nobody wants to lose it; will it be "Angels" or "Invicta" at 5 o'clock.

Folkestone Invicta 4-3 Chelmsford Ciity

A hugely enjoyable game, much more fun than the Euro bore on the TV. An early goal from November player of the month Mark Munday, a brace of goals from Alan Tait in a 3 minute spell. A wonderful goal from Jim Dryden near the death. Only worries for manager Cugley are injury worries, Tait pulled a hamstring and limped off, Ayling is still recovering from a hamstring, several defenders are playing thru their injuries, and on Saturday Invicta travel to top of the table Tonbridge..

Tuesday Dec 09, 2003 DMC Invicta v Chelmsford 7.45pm ko
This game could be a family affair for Invicta's striker Lee Blackman as his cousin is currently on loan to Chelmsford from League side Brentford.

John Ayling is still not recovered from the hamstring injury and will be unavailable on Saturday due to a University commitment.

The only other injury question mark hangs over central defender Adam Flanagan who finished Saturdays bore with a dead leg, however manager Neil Cugley anticipates he will be fit enough to play. It should be a better game than Saturday, the players will be a lot fresher for this Dr Martens Cup tie against a Premier side.

PREVIEW
Congratulations to the squad for getting through Tuesday night successfully and calmly despite severe provocation (without losing their heads whilst all about were losing theirs!). I admit that it was a frrustrating match to watch with only a few goal chances and repeated stoppages of play, but if some of the players are determined to mix it at every opportunity the officials have to caution them and then if they continue to trangress there's only going to be one outcome, red cards.

Anyway, the Trophy Round 3 resumes on January 10, 2004 with Invicta at home to Conference full time professionals Stevenage Boro, so not too much over-embibing and over-eating during the xmas hols lads. Well more pressing problems to be faced over the remainder of December.

We return to league action on Saturday when our visitors will be the Bones (Rothwell Town) who we last encountered on the opening game of the season when we won 4-1, their season has not improved and they are curently 2nd from bottom in the DM Eastern division, however we must take them seriously as they have produced strong teams in the recent past and we have a lot of league games (3 or 4) to make up at the earliest opportunity.

We have two games a week during the month of December, so all the 1st team squad will probably be involved at some point or other. Lets get behind the lads as they get thru this difficult period, some of them will no doubt be playing thru injuries, at least we shouldn't have suspensions to worry about!

FINAL SCORE
Invicta (0) 1 - 0 (0) Havant & W'ville aet (0-0 at 90 mins)
Scorer: Flanagan 115 min

It took 115 minutes of football at the Westbourne Stadium to score the single goal that finally gave the Trophy 2nd Round tie to Invicta and a plum home tie in the 3rd round against Stevenage Boro.

Invicta included a surprise or two in their team selection. Jim Dryden, back early from injury, started (and finished) the game and reserve defender Simon Rainbow got onto the bench for the first time.

The home side hardly had a shot worthy of the name in the first half and were fortunate to go in 0-0 at the break, the visitors could have scored a couple of goals at least.

The second half saw some rash tackles from the Hawks, from players who'd already been booked in the 1st half, dismissals were inevitable. Neil Davis and Luke Byles were dismissed for 2nd yellows mid way thru the half and yet despite the obvious numerical advantage Invicta couldn't score in the 90 minutes.

And so on to extra time and more Hari Kari from the visitors, Neil Champion was shown the red card for an awful fowl on Paul Lamb and then finally in the 115th minute centre back Adam Flanagan headed the all important goal.

INVICTA: Kessell, Watkins (Winfield), Lamb, Flanagan, Lindsey, Hogg, Chandler (Blackman), Munday, Dryden, Tait, Millar (Everitt). SNU: Rainbow, Egan.

Invicta got going in the second half and recent signing Anthony Hogg was Invicta's 2nd half hero. Hoggy won the ball and scored in the 68th minute, in the 81st minute Hogg was on hand to head in Taits cross. FT 2-2

NEWS FROM THE DUGOUT
The bad news, which you already know of course, is that Guesty is suspended for the next couple of games. The good news is that Scott Lindsey will be back for tomorrows game and that he will takeover from Guest at the heart of the defence. His experience is just whats needed for Saturdays FA Trophy tie in Hampshire at Dr Martens Premier side Havant & Waterlooville. More good news is that the Hawks are struggling to win at home this season but are compensating for this by doing rather well with their away fixtures. So a draw and a replay wouldn't necessarilly benefit us, we'll just have to win down there at the first atttempt.

Tait and Winfield were both unwell this week (flu) and missed Thursday nights training but Neil Cugley is fairly confident they will both be suffficiently recovered to play tomorrow. Jim Dryden (ligament) is recovering quickly and should start light training this week.

If you are unable to travel down to the game don't forget that the Reserves are at home to Sevenoaks Reserves at the Westbourne Stadium and are worthy of your support.

PS The unconfirmed date for the Kent Senior Cup game with Maidstone is December 17th.

FINAL SCORE
Folkestone Invicta 2-2 Stamford
Scorers FI: Tait (58), Hogg (71) S: Paul (11), Byrne (90)
This was the proverbial "game of two halves". Invicta were very poor at times in the first half as they persisted in playing everything into the giant Stamford keepers arms. Stamford should have been two up at half time but they let us off the hook. HT 0-1
Invicta played some entertaining football in the 2nnd half, levelled the score then went one ahead only to be pullled back to 2-2 in the 93rd minute. If Invicta harbour hopes of being a top seven side by the end of the season then they will have to win some of the home games against the better teams in the division like Stamford.

NEWS FROM THE DUGOUT
Although Teletext are reporting the signing of Anthony Hogg that is not strictly the case. Hoggy has had a bit of a knee problem and has been unable to play full games. He is signed on as a non-contract player and we will be reviewing the situation in 3 to 4 weeks.

Drew Watkins leg is slow to heal, he was unable to train yesterday but will have a fitness test tomorrow.

Ayling and Chandler both trained last night and will both be playing tomorrow at the Westbourne Stadium when Stamford are our Doc Martens Eastern league opponents.

The great news from Jim Dryden is that his plaster has been removed and he has hopes of getting back to the subs bench by early December and will hope to playing a full part before Christmas.

We have had a little bit of rain today and the forecast is for more rain over the weekend but we are not anticipating any problems with the pitch.

PREVIEW
Aftrer the euphoria of Tuesday nights victory (6-1 don't expect we'll top that one this season!) comes the cold light of day and the analysis. It's true that we could have scored a few more goals quite easily if our blessed posts didn't always get in the way. Fleet can't have relished the prospect of a midweek journey along the coast after a days work at their proper jobs and then that eight minute spell in the first half in which Taity calmly slotted 3 goals past the unsuspecting Calvin Sparshatt in 3 one on one situations. Now we know that Taity can score a few goals but not usually in one on one situations, and the lad has been struggling to find the back of the net just lately, who changed the script! Tony Kessell has got to be one of the best keepers in the Dr Martens League, his handling is practically faultless and his good organisation of the goal area and his defenders is probably the main reason why we've conceeded so few goals this season (12 goals in 12 league games). And in Paul Lamb (another great signing Neil) he could well turn out to be the missing chess piece of the set. He adds balance to the side and is another great example to the young men of Invicta.

On Saturday at the Westbourne Stadium, Stamford are likely to provide much sterner opposition than Fleet were able to summon up on Tuesday, however we are not a two or three man team and although I've alluded to the contributions of Tait, Kessells and Lamb there are another 14 or 15 players who are all as important to the team and to each other. Another plus point on Tuesday was Neil's use of all three substitutes, nice to see him resting some of the main contributors and giving some of the younger players opportunities to get some experience. It's a 15/16 man game these days.

MISSING PLAYERS
Jim Dryden: ankle ligament damage - 3 to 4 weeks
Drew Watkins: cut shin - 1 to 2 weeks
John Ayling: blisters - late fitness test.
Martin Chandler: ankle - late fitness test
Scott Lindsey: one mach suspension
John Guest: three match suspension starting with Maidstone KSC

APOLOGIES for suggesting that Paul Lamb was having a one match trial, I got that completely wrong. He's looked very promising and is hopefully here for the remainder of the season.

HASTINGS UPDATE
Well the good news is that Jim Drydens injury is not as severe as was first thought. He was stretchered off at Hastings yesterday with a suspected ankle fracture which now appears to be ankle ligament damage. I'm sure that doesn't make it any less painful so heres wishing you a speedy recovery Jim, we hope to see you back tormenting Doc Martens Eastern division defences in a few weeks time.

PEN PICTURE
PAUL LAMB (Defender): Joined the club during November 2003 from Maidstone United, whom he had joined earlier in the season from Margate. He had re-joined Margate in July 1997 after a long spell with Gravesend & Northfleet and was a member of the Margate side which won the Dr Martens League Premier Division in 2000-01. Paul was a member of the Gravesend side which played away to Aston Villa in the F. A. Cup during the 1995-96 season and has also played for Ramsgate and Dartford. Date of birth: April 19, 1973.

FINAL SCORE
Hastings United (0) 1-2 (1) Folkestone Invicta

New signing Paul Lamb made his Invicta debut. Mark Munday opened the scoring in the 21st minute following Watkins cross and Guests header. Jim Dryden was strechered off in the 39th minute (replaced by Ayling) and went to hospital with a suspected ankle fracture. HT 0-1.

On the hour Hastings made a bold 3 man substitution and leveled the score through Ryan Peters after a foul on Hafner. Then the substitution back fired on them as they were quickly reduced to 10 men. Drew Watkins scored the winner in the 89th minute directly from the free kick. Moments after John Guest was sent off for two yellow cards.

INVICTA: Kessell, Watkins, Lamb, Flanagan, Guest, Lindsey, Everitt (Hogg 80), Munday, Dryden (Ayling 39), Tait, Millar. SNU: Winfield, Dyson.

Midweek DME Results Tuesday 04 November 2003
Fleet Town 3-0 Hastings United
Sittingbourne 1-3 Histon

Histon moved calmly into second place in the Dr Martens Eastern with a Tuesday night win over Sittingbourne and will be looking for further sucess in the FA Cup 1st Round at the expense of Woking on Saturday. Mid table Salisbury have a real FA Cup money spinner on Sunday away to Sheffield Wednesday, they may not make any further progress but they should be financially secure with their prize money and TV money.

Invicta get back into League action on Saturday and will hope to Bash the Bash down in Hampshire, there were some memorable encounters between the old Folkestone Town side and Bashley (have to ask Cugs about that). The Folkestone Invicta squad will want to continue the winning habit and hopefully score a few more goals, they are scoring for fun at the moment and a good victory will remind Tonbridge Angels that they are not going to have everything there own way and that they also have to play us twice in the league.

The reward for last weeks DM cup success down at Hastings is a home tie this Tuesday at the Westbourne stadium against Fisher. The Fish are very unpredictable at the moment so who knows what awaits us on Tuesday night.

FINAL SCORES
Folkestone Invicta (1) 4 Hemel Hempstead (0) 1
Borrowed Notes from JH (Stumpy) easterndivison_info
Invicta 1-0 up at half time when Adam Flanagan nodded in a Drew Watkins corner. Hemel equalised about 10 minutes into the second half following a goalmouth scramble. Things turned Folkestone's way with twenty minutes to go following a double substitution which saw super-skilled John Ayling introduced. First a half-cleared corner was nodded back over the defence and volleyed in by Jim Dryden. Next Ayling finished a move that he started himself by scoring from an impossible angle at the near post. A minute later he hit the inside of the post. Finally a clever ball from Ayling put Dryden away on the left and his far post cross was volleyed in superbly by a less than 100% fit Tait.

INVICTA: Wessell, Watkins (Winfield), Lindsey, Flanagan, Guest, Hogg (Ayling), Chandler (Everitt), Munday, Dryden, Tait, Millar. SNU: Larkin, Egan.

Nobodies going anywhere at the moment

Six points from two games, each with a four goal margin, over the last four days. Shame about the Chats last minute consolation goal but I suppose we can forgive a momentry lapse of concentration when the points are safe. We must not forget that we have a very young team even if they seem wise beyond their years at times.

Anthony Hogg (knee ligaments) and Adam Flanagan (ankle) are still on the injury list so any talk about players going out on loan is wildly speculative. In conversation with Neil Cugley yesterday I was assured that nobody was going anywhere at the moment as far as he was concerned particularly with two key members of the squad side-lined by injury.

The team are to be congratulated on their disciplinary record this season, but as Neil pointed out to me everything is much easier when you're winning, long may we keep the winning habit. Incidentally, there were a few missing faces at the Westbourne Stadium last night, surely you can't have preferred to stay home and watch Arsenal lose on the telly rather than face the excitement of a live game with six goals.

BACK TO THE FUTURE!
Congratulations to the players, club officials, supporters club members and anybody else I should have mentioned, for the excitement of the FA Cup. We've made a few friends and hopefully influenced a few people to come back and see us on a regular basis.

There is of course plenty of cup action still to come this season, namely the FA Trophy with its improved prize money (next involvement Nov 1st at home to Hemel Hempstead), Dr Martens League Cup, and Kent Senior Cup to come, but now we must bring our attention back to the league program and the Restructuring of the non-league pyramid which will take effect at the end of this season 2003/4.

If you wish to immerse yourself in all the grizzly details you could do worse than check out Tonys Football Site and click on Restructuring. I understand that we must finish in the top seven of the Eastern to position ourselves for Conference 2 for the start of season 2005/6. As the season progresses I'lll ask Club Secretary Ritchie Murning to clarify things for us mere mortals!

Half the members of our league have already played eleven league games to our seven, Tonbridge the current leaders have 31 points from 11 games, whereas we have 13 points from 7... as long as we keep winning there'll be no problem.

Neil Cugley has some players on the injured list, Anthony Hogg (knee ligaments) and Adam Flanagan (ankle) are out for 2 to 3 weeks. Micheal Everitt (21 today) should be fit enough to resume on Saturday up at Corby. Lets keep the cup atmosphere going with 3 points at Corby, then its all round to the Westbourne on Tuesday night for North Kent visitors Chatham.

... one of the GREAT FA Cup ties seen in Kent ...

Message left on the fifc forum by Radio Kent commentator Mike Green

Greenie - Last night at Welling...
Wed Oct 15 2003 8:41:58 am

Firstly, let me say that I felt honoured to be at Park View Road last night to witness one of the GREAT FA Cup ties seen in Kent for many, many years!

Now many of you know that I watch an awful lot of football during a season partly because Im a Gillingham Season Ticket holder; partly of course because I cover the game for Radio Kent, but most importantly because I love football, and after what happened last week with the multi millionaires of the professional game, the football served up by both Invicta and Welling last night was an absolute treat!

Some of the football that the Amber and Black played last night was simply breathtaking and could only be admired! The way that on countless occasions Munday, Millar and Hogg ripped through Wellings midfield to create chance for Tait and Dryden was almost beyond belief. Alan Tait will go on to be one heck of a player I think I described one of his runs last night as Bergkamp esque because of the skill involved and besides am I the only one to notice the similarity facially? In Jimmy Dryden you have the perfect foil, and if there wasnt a blade of grass he didnt cover then Ill be surprised his energy never ceases to amaze me!

But at the end of the day, youre out of the Cup but only because you ran into a goalkeeper who had the game of his life! I counted no fewer than FIFTEEN good saves Glen Knight made last night and at least SIX of those were from the very top drawer! I suppose is was inevitable that Knight would be the hero or villain of penalties whichever way you look at it we saw nine good penalties all on target which is rare! And dont take it out on poor Mark Munday for missing his performance took me back to when he was at his very best playing for Gravesend and Margate, and besides, who scored the goal that got you extra time anyway?!?!?

All in all as I said at the top, I was honoured to be at Park View Road last night, even if the wrong side won I can say that on the Folkestone message board cant I! As I think I said at stages last season, you have a young side to be proud of they are a joy to watch and their time will come!

PREVIEW
Yet again on Saturday we created countless chances but failed to score the goals, one of these days we are going to get a cricket score. Anyway congratulations to the team, grateful thanks to all the behind the scenes volunteers and a big thank you to the people of Folkestone who turned out in much greater numbers for the first time this season. Please come again.

For Tuesday nights replay at Welling, combatative midfielder Martin Chandler, serves a one match suspension and Flanagan (replaced at half-time by Larkins on Saturday) looks doubtful, however it must be said that the team looked more balanced during Saturdays second half. Match Sponsor Peter Sprinks chose John Guest as man of the match (good choice). I wonder if Cugs will change his tactics tomorrow and give John Ayling a longer opportunity to make a name for himself! No he probably won't.

Good luck everybody and hopefully we'll have a nice home tie to look forward to with either DM Premier Weston-super-Mare or Rymans Div 1 North Chesham on Saturday 25th Oct.

PREVIEW
Oct 11 FAC 3QR Invicta v Welling Utd 3pm ko
There's a real buzz around the Westbourne stadium at the moment, the locals are finding it difficult to remove the smile from their faces, I keep pinching myself to believe that the Cup and Trophy wins are really happening and that we are not appealing for funds to keep Invicta in business.

Well we've got a home FA Cup tie on Saturday against our old rivals the Wings, and we certainly don't want to have to go up to the PVR for a midweek replay, so here's your chance to really get behind Invicta and roar the boys on to another cup success. Bring everybody along, family, friends, workmates, and lets have a real carnival atmosphere at Cheriton Road.

The history books would suggest that Welling would be in the driving seat after 20 odd years of successful visits to Cheriton and also Wellings current Premier league status, but Paul Parkers lads have not travelled very well this season and there have been long term problems with injuries too. Neil Cugley knows only too well how difficult and unfair life can be at the wrong end of the Doc Martens Premier.

Cugs has the luxury of a full squad to select from for Saturday and the good news is that top scorer Allan Tait (minor op on finger) is fit and raring to go, along with the rest of the squad, so lets all work together and take another step on that road to Cardiff.

FINAL SCORE
FAT Prelim. Oxford City (1) 1 - 4 (2) Folkestone Invicta
Invicta continued with their rich vein of good form despite having to travel without their ace striker Allan Tait, who had an operation this morning on a finger which he injured at work. Our good wishes go to Allan and we hope he will make a speedy recovery.

Lee Blackman appeared in the starting line-up as Jim Drydens striking partner and he lasted the full 90 minutes. The goal sequence was as follows.
6th minute - ball fed to Anthony Hogg on the edge of the area, Hoggy scores
38 th minute - following a free kick, ball fed to James Millar who scores from inside the area
40th minute - Oxford get a goal back from Andrew Ballard. HT 1-2
The second half saw Invicta score two more goals, Martin Chandler's 60th minute penalty kick and John Ayling was put thru the centre scoring in the 90 th minute. FT 1-4.

Invicta's exploits in the FA Trophy have not always been the stuff of legends but I never did find that rabbits foot?

Oxford could kickstart Invicta Trophy Run

Oct 4 - FAT Prelim. - Oxford City v FOLKESTONE INVICTA 3pm
(If drawn then Replay at Folkestone on Tuesday Oct 7th 7.45pm)

Invicta's exploits in the FA Trophy have not always been the stuff of dreams. The last three years haves seeen us enter the competition at the 1st Round but the loss of Premier status now means we have to start in the previous Preliminary Round.

2002 We were drawn away to Carshalton last season, this was always going to be a tricky tie, we lost 2-1

2001 A home tie, but tricky opposition who we've never quite mastered, Tivvy (Tiverton), lost 0-1

2000 Reached the dizzy heights of the 3rd Round. 1st round opponents were Oxford City, 2-2 at our place (a brace for Denty) then a 3-4 victory up at Oxford. 2nd Round home victory over Worthing 4-0. 3rd Round home defeat at the hands of the Linnets (Kings Lynn) 1-3.

Perhaps the extra round and the draw against the opposition of 3 years ago will enable us to start a Trophy run for the first time in 3 years. Now I've tied a knot in my handkerchief, what did I do with that rabbits foot?
