2011/2012 Results & Reports:
Folkestone Invicta 3 - Ashford United Youth 0
Two goals from top scorer Johan Terhorst and one from the impressive Reece Mortimer ensured that for the time being Invicta stayed top and with one remaining game (Thur 26th April) , Invicta will make every effort to make it difficult for the couple of teams with games in hand.
It was Mortimer who took the lead after a great ball from Philpott sent him running through to slot past the keeper to hit the post and cross the line . Mortimer instigated the second with another good strike which Terhorst poked home from the resulting save.
The game was over as a contest when very early in the second half Mortimer surged through the defence and had another shot well saved , but yet again Terhorst struck with his 18th of an injury hit season which is impressive.
Team : Ridley, Harding, Paton, Cole, Holden , Carden, Mortimer, Prebble, Philpott, Terhorst, Mooring , Childs, Gallacher
Folkestone Invicta u18 1 Herne Bay 1
Invicta contributed to a tough tussle of a game with a draw at the end probably being a fair result.
Herne Bay had the better of the first half with keeper Ridley and an impressive defensive performance keeping the scores goalless. Holden was the pick of the defenders and Mortimer in midfield worked hard but Herne Bay took the lead with the ball falling to the striker to tuck away neatly in the corner.
Invicta came out sharper in the second half and Gondongwe began to cause more and more problems on the right. Philpott and Mortimer had good strikes saved and Mooring shot wide when perhaps easier to score but Invicta continued to plug away and got the equaliser when PHILPOTT drove home in a similar style of goal to Herne Bay.
Three tough games to go but all still to play for at the top.
Team : Ridley, Cole, Paton, Prebble, Wraight-Blackman, Holden, Mortimer, Philpott, Gondongwe, Childs, Mooring, Harding, Welsh, Williams, Terhorst
Folkestone Invicta 3 Dover Athletic 2
Invicta remain at the top with four tough games remaining after good display against rivals Dover.
Both teams struggled to get going at the start but Invicta took the lead with a good footballing goal involving Paton, Terhorst and thumped home by COLE. Soon after Invicta increased the lead with skipper CARDON slotting home from a corner. Dover deserved to pull one back also from a corner. But TERHORST increased the lead again lobbing the keeper after a good ball from Philpott.
The second half did not produce many chances at all which suited Invicta although late on Cardon and Paton cleared impressively and Ridley dived well to his right. In the last couple of minutes however the referee awarded a controversial penalty for an alleged foul by Wraight- Blackman and Cardon was sent off for expressing his views. The Dover defender dispatched the penalty impressively but there was not enough time for any more chances.
Team : Ridley, Cole, Paton, Cardon, Wraight-Blackman, Holden, Prebble, Mortimer, Philpott, Mooring, Terhorst, Harding, Welsh, Gondongwe, Williams, Childs
Folkestone Invicta 4 Herne Bay 2
Invicta moved to level on points at the top with a crucial win over rival title contenders Herne Bay in a closely fought match.
Invicta took the lead midway through the first half with TERHORST crashing home after a cross from the right has been parried by the keeper. Invicta enjoyed a good spell and increased the lead after a corner from Philpott was flicked on by Childs and bundled in by PREBBLE. Almost immediately Herne Bay replied.
The second half started slowly for both sides but with the impressive Philpott driving from midfield and a good performance from Paton on the left , Invicta were beginning to get the upper hand. They increased the lead after a good one two from Cole and Philpott and an excellent cross saw TERHORST finish coolly in the box.
Herne Bay were again not finished and despite then having a man sent off for kicking out , they pulled one back after a good cross.
Invicta brought on Gondongwe whose good run saw the keeper bring him down in the area and Philpott thumped the penalty home.

Kennington 1 Folkestone Invicta 6
Invicta got back to winning ways with a good win in the wind and rain.
The first half was very even with both sides trying to get used to the narrow pitch and the conditions. Invicta took the lead through an excellent pass from Prebble and an equally excellent cross from Cole finding MOORING who volleyed home. Kennington began to get into the game and equalised through a good strike.
Invicta raised the tempo in the second half and began to exploit the spaces and force a number of corners and it was from one of these that HOLDEN stabbed home. Invicta continued to press and TERHORST added to the scoring with a great run and finish. MOORING then scored after working hard to retrieve the ball and striking well from distance. PREBBLE then scored his first of the season after some great work on the left from Welsh and CHILDS finished another good move with a good finish after a cross from Mooring. All that was left was for keeper Ridley to pull off an outstanding save too cap a much improved second half from the team.

John Ullman Cup Quarter Final
Folkestone Invicta U18's 4 Three Bridges 3 (AET)
Invicta eventually won this quarterfinal in extra time after a great game that needed all players to dig deep.
Three bridges started the brighter and passed the ball around well with Invicta being out numbered in midfield. Three Bidges took the lead after a dubious handball was given and the midfielder duly placed the resulting freekick home. They could have increased the lead but for a stunning save from Ridley.
As the first half wore on , Invicta began to get into the game and a shot from Philpott was well saved by the keeper with terhorst blazing over the rebound. This only spurred Invicta on and they equalised with WRAIGHT-BLACKMAN stabbing home. Invicta took the lead soon after with the impressive HOLDEN turning well and firing from outside the box.
The second half was well contested if not spoiled by the needless yellow cards being handed out by the fussy referee. One such booking led to Bridges equaliser with another dubious handball being conceded and the freekick being thumped home by the Bridges defender.
Invicta up the pace again and the hardworking Childs went close when in a good position. They took the lead again when PHILPOTT produced an unstoppable swerving shot. With minutes remaining , Bridges equalised through a good move resulting in a strike from the left.
Both teams began to tire but it was Invicta again who produced the winner in extra time with another excellent strike from PHILPOTT.
Team : Ridley, Gondongwe, Paton, Harding, Cardon, Wraight-Blackman, Holden, Mortimer, Mooring, Terhorst, Childs , Welsh, Philpott, Gallacher, Williams, Cole
Folkestone Invicta U18's 3 Faversham 1
Invicta moved to the top of the league with a stuttering performance where the goals were scored at the right time.
Invicta struggled to get any sort of rhythm but competed well and a break down the right from Gondongwe saw him fire a good ball into the box that could only be turned into his own net by the defender.
Second Half was barely a minute old when Prebble and Philpott combined well on the right and HARDING thumped home the cross into the top corner. Invicta continued to huff and puff and Welsh was brought on to provide some width.
Invicta went further ahead when a good solo run was finished impressively by PHILPOTT and although Faversham pulled one back through a neat struike near the end , the three points were in the bag.
Team : Ridley, Cole , Harding, Carden, Wraight Blackman, Holden, Mortimer, Prebble, Gondongwe, Mooring , Childs, Philpott , Chhantyal , Welsh, Gallacher, Williams.
Invicta U18's 2 Bromley 0
Invicta reached the quarter finals of the John Ullman cup with a dogged display that perhaps showed a will to work hard and stay in the game against a good Bromley side
Bromley had most of the play in the first half and Ridley had to be at his best to make a number of stops but Invicta took the lead when an error between the centre back and goalkeeper enabled CHILDS to sneak in and score.
The second half was a more even affair and Invicat worked hard to keep the lead with the impressive Wraight Blackman leading the way. And it was through another mix up which caused the ball to loop in the air and MOORING to volley well from a distance past the misplaced goalkeeper.
Team : Ridley, Cole , Harding, Carden, Wraight Blackman, Holden, Mortimer, Prebble, Gondongwe, Mooring , Childs, Chhantyal , Welsh, Gallacher, Williams.
Whitstable (U18) 2 v Folkestone (U18) 3
Invicta moved to the top of the table after a strange game where Whitstable dominated for long periods without ever creating as many chances as Invicta. Whitstable had the better of the first half and took the lead through a good volley from a corner. Invicta were relying on breaks with Terhorst and Mortimer having efforts saved.
The second half brought more urgency in Invicta's play and they equalised after some good work by Terhorst who crossed in for MOORING to head home. Soon after Mooring scored again after turning the defender impressively and lobbing the advancing keeper.
Whitstable came at Invicta again and would have equalised had it not been for an excellent save from man of the match keeper Ridley. Cardon also impressed , sweeping well and clearing up some dangerous attacks from Whitstable.
Invicta broke again and scored a third after TERHORST followed up his own shot to round the keeper and score.
There was still time for Whitstable to pile forward and scored with a minute remaining after a good set play.
Team : Ridley, Chhantyal, Gallacher, Cardon, Mortimer, Prebble, Harding, Terhorst, Mooring, Holden, Mooring, Wraight-Blackman,Paton, Williams
Erith 0-2 Folkestone Invicta
Invicta reached round 3 of the Kent County Cup with an impressive display despite the blustery conditions.
Playing against the wind in the first half , Invicta relied on Cardon, Wraight-Blackman and Holden to defend strongly and counter attack. Invicta were very dangerous from set pieces and they thought they had taken the lead when Cardon slotted home from a Harding free kick but alas it was given offside.
Folkestone scored soon after the restart after a good corner from the impressive Harding was headed home by MORTIMER and with the equally impressive prebble winning the tussles in midfield , Invicta dominated.
Erith had a chance to get back into the game through a penalty but Ridley saved well. Invicta increased the lead and won the tie after another set piece from Harding looked to have gone in before the keeper clawed it out only to see WRAIGHT-BLACKMAN thump it back home.
Team : Ridley, Chhantyaal, Gallacher, Cardon, Wraight-Blackman, Holden, Mortimer, Prebble, Terhorst, Harding, Gondongwe, Mooring, Williams, Cole
Ashford United U18's 2 Folkestone Invicta U18's 2
It was honours even in the end in a tough match where a draw was probably a fair result.
Ashford started the stronger and took the lead midway through the half when a good ball from the right was put into his own net by the unlucky Cole. Folkestone responded well with Mortimer and Wraight-Blackman in particular driving the team on and it was a good tackle from Mortimer followed by an equally good pass that sent TERHORST through on the right to slot home the equaliser.
The battle continued in the second half and it was Folkestone who took the lead with CHILDS poking home after a good set piece. Ashford began to have more of the ball and some good defensive work from Cardon and Holden thwarted the onslaught. However with just 2 minutes left on the clock a ball from the right eluded all to provide a simple tap in for the Ashford Striker.
Team : Ridley, Cole, Goddongwe, Cardon, Holden, Wraight Blackman, Mortimer, Prebble, Mooring, Terhorst, Philpott, Childs, Paton, Welsh, Moore, Williams.
Folkestone Invicta U18 6 Hythe Town U18 0
Invicta moved to joint top of the league after a more than impressive start to the season which has surprised a few.
This game was a comfortable victory without perhaps reaching the performance heights of earlier games. Invicta took the lead after a corner from Mortimer found CARDON who headed home. They increased the lead soon after with CARDON again scoring from a direct free kick.
Invicta struggled to get going again in the half but resumed the scoring in the second half with a deserved goal from the hardworking MOORING who flicked home after a good ball from Gondongwe. Invicta stepped up and some good work down the right from Chhantyal and Welsh resulted in the ball being struck well by CHILDS from the edge of the area. CHILDS increased the lead further with another quality strike and Invicta finished the goal rush with the best goal of the game with a great move resulted in a good firm header from MORTIMER.

Faversham U18's 0 Folkestone Invicta 3
Invicta continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable performance and they started strongly forcing a number of early corners. It was from one of those corners that they thought they had taken the lead after it seemed Cardon's header had crossed the line but the decision wasn't given. Amazingly just minutes later the same player had another header which seemed to be headed out from inside the net but again no lead was taken.
Finally Invicta took the lead after yet another corner was not cleared and Terhorst pounced tochip the keeper and leave WRAIGHT-BLACKMAN to nod home. Invicta continued to create chances and were unlucky not to increase the lead after strikes from Childs and the outstanding Mortimer.
The second half continued in the same vain and Invicta increased the lead with a great strike from MOORING. Faversham began to give away needless free kicks and it was from one of those that Cardon produced a great ball in for Holden to head into the path of TERHORST to volley home.
Team : Ridley, Gondongwe, Moore, Cardon, Wraight-Blackman, Holden, Mortimer, Childs, Prebble, Philpott, Terhorst, Chhantyal, Welsh, Harding, Williams, Paton, Mooring.
John Ullman Cup - Herne Bay 3 Folkestone Invicta 3 (aet) - Invicta won 6-5 on pens
Invicta eventually won this epic cup tie with a performance full of effort and character. Herne Bay had lots of possession in the first half but it was Folkestone who created the clearer chances with the impressive Terhorst causing havoc. Invicta took the lead when a free kick from CARDON flew straight in. They increased the lead through WRAIGHT-BLACKMAN's well struck shot.
Herne Bay had much the better of the second half and eventually pulled one back with a good strike. Herne Bay continued to press and equalized from a corner. Invicta immediately went back in front after an excellent turn from Terhorst who passed to GONDONGWE to sidefoot home.
The final ten minutes was end to end with the excellent Prebble impressing in midfield. Herne Bay however equalized after a good cross from the left.
Extra time was more noted for tiredness than anything else and so to Penalties where Cardon, Gondongwe, Philpott, Terhorst, Morring and Paton scored and impressive stand in keeper Andersson Laing saving the vital 6th.
Team : Andersson-Laing, Gondongwe, Moore, Cardon, Wraight-Blackman, Holden, Mortimer, Childs, Prebble, Philpott, Terhorst, Chhantyal, Welsh, Williams, Paton, Mooring.
Hollands and Blair U18's 1 Folkestone Invicta 2
Invicta won this scrappy affair by the skin of their teeth in a game that produced little in the way of quality.
The first half was a tale of two penalties. One being converted by the home side after a trip, to take the lead, and the other being squandered by Invicta and on the few chances created, Invicta just edged the first half but with no reward.
The second half was marginally better and within ten minutes PHILPOTT had equalised after beating the offside trap , lobbing the keeper and running round to place into the empty net.
Invicta continued to create chances with efforts from Childs and Terhorst and at the other end Ridley looking impressive any time he was needed.
Invicta continued to huff and puff and eventually in the last minute MORTIMER made it 2 goals in 2 games from outside the area with a cracking effort that rebounded into the net off the crossbar.
Team: Ridley, Gondongwe. paton, Cardon, Williams, Holden, Prebble, Mooring, Mortimer, Terhorst, Philpott, Childs, Cole, Moore, Wraight-Blackman, Chantyaal, Welsh

Invicta started strongly and took the lead with CARDON heading home from Mortimer's corner.
Invicta pressed and closed down well and thought they had increased the lead with Terhorstrounding the keeper only to be ruled offside.
Invicta were winning the battle in midfield with Prebble and Mortimer having very good games and more chances were created with Childs and Philpott going close.
Kennington came out stronger in the second half but the storm was weathered and Invicta increased the lead when Mortimer ran through the heart of the defence with a mazy run and passed well to TERHORST to drive home..Invicta were in control now and a well driven free kick into the box from Cardon was glanced home by HOLDEN for invicta's third.
The confidence grew by the minute and another good free kick was headed well by Mooring but was pushed round the post by the keeper. Invicta capped a pleasing performance with a fourth, TERHORST poking home.
