Reserves set for early season start
Author: Sam Jones

Invicta Reserves start their Kent League season earlier than expected when they entertain Lordswood at the Buzzlines Stadium on Saturday (kick off 3pm).

The squad – now managed by Gary Towse with back-up from former youth team bosses Stan Gardiner and Pete Saunders – end their pre-season programme with what is expected now to be a low-key friendly away at Deal this Thursday (20th August) when several fringe first team players may well be involved.

Invicta beat Whitstable Reserves 2-1 at The Belmont on Saturday with goals from Steve Elkins and James Gardner.

Pete Saunders told the Herald and www.folkestoneinvicta.co.uk: “We're fairly pleased with how things are going.

“We've got some of the lads that Stan and I had in the under 18s two years ago – they're now 20 or so of course – and others from last season's under 18s who are also looking good.

“We were not due to start the league games until next week, but the Kent League have now brought this one forward and we kick off on Saturday.”
