Invicta's new-look reserve side kicked off their season with a hard-earned victory over Lordswood at The Buzzlines Stadium.
A late goal from striker Will Tetteh eventually settled the game after the same player had had a goal ruled out by a questionable, technical offside decision.
Defender Charlie Gardiner's header that flew just wide was the best of several first half chances for the home side.
Midway through the second period, Peter Williams burst through but curled his shot against the post and the rebound went straight back to the grateful goalkeeper.
TETTEH finally broke the deadlock ten minutes from time, finishing coolly after a good move down the right hand side.
And keeper Paul Egan did well to preserve the lead when he cleanly took the ball and not the man despite opposition claims in the closing stages.
It was a good, solid performance nothing spectacular but something we can work on said spokesman Pete Saunders.
Jamie Bates had a good game at the back alongside first teamer Liam Dickson who played the full 90 minutes on his way back from injury.
Invicta Reserves: Egan; C Gardiner, Bates, Dickson; Garrity, Fagg (Easton), Harrison, J Gardner (Mortimer) Elkins; Tetteh, Williams. Subs not used: King, Ridley, Tyrie
