A goal in each gave a strengthened Folkestone side a fully deserved win at Faversham on Saturday.
With no Ryman League game, manager Gary Towse was able to include several first team squad players and it was one of them – Billy SOMERVILLE – who smashed the ball into the net from a short corner to give the visitor the lead on 25 minutes.
Luke Stonebridge was fortunate to escape punishment for a challenge just before the interval, but a harsh penalty decision against centre-back Liam Dickson seconds later allowed referee Neil Conlon to point to the spot.
But Stonebridge superbly saved to well-struck penalty to preserve Invicta's half-time lead.
Big striker Craig Thompson fired narrowly wide from a cross by Dean Grant but Folkestone doubled their lead to make the points safe on the hour.
Picking the ball up from a throw-in Steve Elkins sent over a superb cross and Peter WILLIAMS headed home.
Invicta played some good possession football, but still needed two top drawer saves from Stonebridge in the closing stages to hold on to their clean sheet.
Invicta Reserves: Stonebridge; Grant (Smith), Elkins, Bates, Gardiner, Dickson; Harrison (Rainbow), Swallow, Somerville; Williams, Thompson (Driscoll)
