Folkestone boss Neil Cugley tonight confirmed the signature of forward Simon Austin who goes straight into the squad for the visit of Godalming this Saturday.

Speaking exclusively to the official Club website the Seasiders manager commented, “He (Austin) was at Walton & Hersham for a little while this season but it didn't work out and we're delighted to get him. He's played for Maidstone and Horsham and was part of the (Horsham) side that played Swansea in the F.A Cup a few years ago. He's trained with us tonight and looked good and as it goes with the injuries we've got it is a particularly important signing for us.

“I think he'll bring something different to the side with his link up play and he's comfortable with his back to goal, holding the ball up. He's been coached right being at a League club when he was younger and I think he'll be a good asset for us and I'm hoping he'll bring us what we've wanted. He wants to be here and get his head down and living in Chatham he's not too far away either.

“The ironic thing is if that if we had got through in the F.A Cup I don't know who we would've brought in as I think he's Cup tied!”

Strikers Dave Corey (knee/back) and Jimmy Dryden (knee) remain the biggest doubts for the weekend and will face late fitness tests whilst James Everitt (broken foot) is certainly ruled out.

Jimmy Jackson (foot) will also have a late fitness test although Cugs rates his chances of playing slightly higher than Corey and Dryden.

“I think even with those injuries, the side I've got in my head is a strong one and it's just a case of using the best system to suit the players we have available. Dave Corey has got a knee problem and to be fair to him he has been struggling with that and back trouble lately and that's why he hasn't been the player he was a month ago.”

Austin is likely to make his home debut when first take on second this weekend whilst Liam Dickson could retain his place in the starting line up with Josh Burchell occupying a midfield role along with loan signing Dean Grant.
