Folkestone Invicta Supporters Club are pleased to announce a Sportsmans Dinner to be held on Thursday 23rd April 2009 at Stripes Club – when we are fortunate to have Peter Shilton with us as a guest speaker.
This is St Georges Day, so the idea was to invite somebody along with an England connection - what better than the man who has a staggering 125 caps for his country, the most capped England player of all time. England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton is, as aforementioned, the most capped England player of all time with an unbelievable 125 England caps, which also makes him the most capped goalkeeper of all time.
His amazing 30-year career saw him make a record 1,005 League appearances for 11 English league clubs. Among his many accolades, Peter Shilton won the league title and two successive European Cups with Nottingham Forest under the late Brian Clough. Shiltons' playing career saw him win the PFA player of the year and his numerous achievements have earned him the honour of receiving the MBE and OBE for his services to football. In 1990 after his retirement he was awarded the Order of Merit by the PFA.
During his 30 years in top flight football, Shilton played with and against some of the best footballers of all time – with the likes of Bobby Moore and Paul Gascogine, and against such legends as Maradona and Pele.
These years have led to an array of amusing anecdotes and motivating moments which will leave all those fortunate enough to be present thoroughly entertained by this great character. An auction of various (signed and non-signed) memorabilia will also held to raise funds for the Club.
The event commences at 19.00, and includes a full, four-course dinner.
Tickets are £40.00 each.
Alternatively, a table of ten can be booked for the very reasonable price of £375.00 – there is no better way to treat your employees than an evening with Peter Shilton on St Georges Day!
