News from the Dugout
Author: Sam Jones
Published: 8th September, 2009

Whilst news coming from the Club is still quiet on the financial front as negotiations are ongoing, there is some news to report from the Buzzlines Stadium regarding the playing side.

James Everitt, who limped out of Invicta's 3-0 win over Horsham YMCA at the weekend, has been rocked by the news that he has a broken foot and will be out of action for 4-6 weeks.

Later on the same afternoon, there was a long delay as visiting goalkeeper Simon Lockwood was carried off on a stretcher following a collision with Invicta substitute James Dryden. It has since been reported that Mr Lockwood suffered a broken leg.

Naturally, all at Folkestone Invicta wish Simon a speedy recovery.

During Invicta's 1-0 defeat of AFC Hayes in the F.A Cup, midfielder and stand-in captain Micheal Everitt dislocated two fingers - which he himself reset during the game - hence the strapping to his fingers which was on display at the weekend.

On the fundraising front, the Pay for a Player scheme will be launched this Saturday at the F.A Cup tie against Sittingbourne. Watch this space for more information.

Herbie Tyler (pictured, right) has voluntarily taken on the Pound-for-a-Pound fundraiser for the Supporters Club - as you are aware the Invicta Board will match any £1 raised by the Supporters Club on new events, and Mr Tyler has agreed to run the scheme.

Herbie is well known for his fund-raising skills, and has been talking to small businesses and fans in the local area about making a donation to help secure the future of our Club.

Speaking to www.folkestoneinvicta.co.uk today, Herbie was in confident - if optimistic(!) - mood.

"If 100 fans put in £50 we have the £5,000 we need - and the Club would be £10,000 better off! ' said Herbie. " This is a fantastic gesture by the Board and as fans of Folkestone Invicta, we must match it.

"Remember that every little helps."

Anybody interested in donating, or who knows of anybody who may be willing to help out - can contact Herbie on 01303 277070 or see him at the ground. Donations can also be received via via Paypal (see the homepage).

It has also been announced that entry to Invicta's clash with Croydon Athletic on Saturday 14th November will be free of charge. This is all due to an attempt to attract more people to the Mayfields ground.
