Invicta secured a hard fought victory at a windy polo ground after switching from the stadium due to the weather. In the early exchanges both teams came close to breaking the deadlock before Thornton passed to Shepherd who squared to Pope and he slotted home into the bottom corner to Give Invicta the lead.
Ipswich came back into the game and had a couple of chances before breaking away to equalise.
After a quarter of the game Rider replaced Shepherd and had an imediate impact when the ball was played to him 20 yards out with the defenders backing off Rider chipped the keeper with precision to put Invicta back infront.Thats how it stayed to the break.
After the interval Invicta started well and increased there lead with the best move of the game when thornton fed Pope he played Pascoe in and his flicked cross was volleyed in by Rider at the far post.Rider then broke clear and fired home his third .
At 4-1 the game should have been over ,But Ipswich pulled one back with a fine lob over the keeper. Then got a third when poor defending at a corner allowed the forward to head home.
With Invicta playing on the counter Rider beat the off side trap from Pope s threw ball and fired his 4th. With 5mins remaining Invicta s poor defending allowed Ipswich in for a 4th and a nervy couple of minutes but they held on for victory.
"We need to improve our defendig and get the ball away from the box quicker we always are a threat in attack but a win is most important and thats what we got" said manager Geraint Wilson
