Honours were even on Folkestone Invicta’s first ever visit to King George’s Field as a Darren Smith equaliser cancelled out Joe Nwoko’s opener for the home side, with both goals coming during the first half.
NWOKO opened the scoring in the 25th minute when he was given on-side after a ball from Tyrone Myton and slotted the ball into the net.
But the lead lasted just three minutes as SMITH equalised with a tremendous free kick to pen his account for the club.
The midfielder had himself been fouled on the left hand side of the penalty area and his free kick flew across goal and into the far corner of the net.
Invicta had kept the same starting line up which had won at Walton & Hersham in midweek, but were forced into an early change when James Everitt had to come off with a hamstring injury in the opening minutes.
That gave a chance to teenager Jon Driscoll, who had replaced Everitt during stoppage time at Walton & Hersham.
A good fourth minute touch from new Corinthian-Casuals signing Saheed Sankoh found Myton, but right back Josh Vincent blocked and the ball rolled safely to goalkeeper Jack Delo.
Jamal Carr then ran into the Invicta penalty area down the left hand side and shot at Delo in the tenth minute.
Young Driscoll soon got into his stride up front for Invicta and ran at the home defence when striking partner James Dryden won the ball in the 11th minute, but the substitute’s shot finished up harmlessly wide.
Dryden was close on the quarter of an hour mark when home goalkeeper Colin Harris produced a good one-handed save to jeep out a strong header from the Invicta captain.
Following the two goals, a 33rd minute shot on the turn from striker Sankoh deflected off defender Liam Dickson for the home side’s first corner of the game.
At the other end, goalkeeper Harris made a great 38th minute save when Smith threatened to score again after Josh Burchell had dispossessed a defender and played the ball in from the left hand side to the Invicta goalscorer.
Dryden shot over from the right hand side of the penalty area when Dickson played a good ball forward in the 53rd minute.
There was a scare in the Inivcta penalty area four minutes later when Nwoko got in behind Liam Friend, but Delo saved at the expense of a corner as Friend recovered and Dickson clattered into the post as he got back to cover the line.
Micheal Everitt shot wide in the 71st minute when under pressure from centre half Youssef Matwali as the ball fell to the Invicta midfielder in the penalty area.
Casuals’ left back Dale Hennessey tried his luck from 30 yards a minute later and shot over the crossbar when the ball came out of the Invicta penalty area to him.
Sankoh drilled the ball across the Invicta penalty area in the 79th minute from the left hand side of the penalty area, but Dickson was there to clear from close to the line.
Invicta gave another youngster a chance as Dan Garrity replaced Vincent for his first senior appearance as a substitute.
