Honours were even at a sunny Buzzlines Stadium as Folkestone Invicta and Dulwich Hamlet began their 2009-10 campaigns with a repeat of the goalless draw they had shared at Dulwich towards the end of last season.
Both sides will feel that they had chances to win the game as the match opened up during the second half.
Invicta had gone into the game without captain and record goalscorer James Dryden (knee), ever present last season, as debutant David Cory joined James Everitt in attack, with Michael Yianni just behind on his first senior start for his hometown club.
Dulwich, for their part, featured new management team of Gavin Rose and Junior Kadi in their line up as part of a new look side.
There was an early test for Dulwich goalkeeper Tim Roberts when he could not hold a fourth minute Josh Vincent shot.
But Dulwich themselves started well as Alex Tiesse curled a shot wide of the far post from the left hand side of the penalty area and Jamie Cheeseman shot at home goalkeeper Jack Delo when the ball was slipped to him inside the box.
A 13 th minute Tiesse shot then flew wide of the Invicta post from outside the penalty area.
Jimmy Jackson saw goalkeeper Roberts hold his 41 st minute 25-yard free kick from the right hand side on the midfielder's 50 th starting appearance for Invicta.
There were more chances from the start of the second half as Gerry Gonnella's 47 th minute shot deflected off the prostrate Josh Burchell for a corner after Dulwich striker Ryan James had played a low ball in from the left.
Kadi then hit a 20-yard free kick at Delo four minutes later.
Invicta responded as an opening for James Everitt came to nothing when a good ball from elder brother and captain Micheal found Darren Smith down the left hand side of the penalty area.
Home striker Cory then saw his first shot blocked and his second effort deflected over the bar for a corner when Burchell broke down the left hand side and pulled the ball back in the 55 th minute.
Smith couldn't quite get his shot in two minutes later when Jackson played the ball into the penalty area to James Everitt.
At the other end, Dulwich player-manager Rose fired wide from just outside the penalty area.
Invicta midfielder smith had three attempts at goal on the hour mark but was denied by goalkeeper Roberts' legs and defender Nicolas Plumain on the line before shooting over.
Yianni then shot over in the 71 st minute when the ball fell to him on the right hand side of the penalty area following a Jackson free kick after a foul by Dulwich substitute Lamin Ojo.
Ojo then missed a good close range chance to put the visitors ahead after the ball had fallen to fellow substitute Sol Pinnock down the right hand side of the penalty area.
The stalemate continued in the 74 th minute as James Everitt could not get enough power on his 74 th minute header when Yianni found Smith on the left hand side.
Dulwich's Kadi then hit a great 76 th minute strike with the outside of his foot which curled just over the Invicta crossbar.
For Invicta, a low Cory shot was deflected wide for a corner after an 80 th minute move involving James Everitt and Smith.
Dulwich threatened again in the 83 rd minute when big centre half Dean Palmer's shot was deflected over when Ojo played the ball in to Kadi.
And the visitors might have stolen the three points during stoppage time when the ball went out for a goal kick as Kalvin Morath-Gibbs found Gonnella down the right hand side and he played a dangerous ball in towards Tiesse.
There were bookings for Invicta's Cory (kicking the ball away when given offside in the 69 th minute) and for Dulwich substitute Daniel Akpoveta (late challenge on Liam Friend after 84 minutes).
