Honours were even at the Champion Hill Stadium as Folkestone Invicta came away from Easter Saturday’s visit to Dulwich Hamlet with a goalless draw.
Invicta made one change to their starting line up as the fit again Liam Friend replaced James Everitt (hamstring) at the heart of the defence.
The home side had the first chance of the match when Daniel Francis’ fifth minute shot from outside the penalty area bounced up at goalkeeper Jack Delo. At the other end, a Jimmy Jackson free kick flashed wide after a foul by home captain Cedric Ngakam on Micheal Everitt.
Invicta captain James Dryden then shot over from outside the box in the 23rd minute after collecting the ball from Jackson.
Dulwich had a chance to open the scoring on the half hour mark when Daryl Plummer headed over from close range after a free kick eventually made its way to him.
The south London side had Stuart Myall in their starting line up and visiting centre half Liam Dickson cleared the popular former Invicta midfielder’s 39th minute ball in from the left out for a corner after Francis had played the ball out wide.
Dulwich had another chance at the start of the second half when the ball broke to Ngakam, but Delo saved with his feet and Dickson was able to clear.
For Invicta, Dryden shot well wide from outside the penalty area in the 54th minute after an exchange of passes with Everitt and defender Shayne Mangodza blocked a Jacob Arnold-Smith shot two minutes later when Everitt nodded the ball on.
Invicta’s best moment came in the 63rd minute when a Josh Vincent shot flashed across the Dulwich goal and past the far post after a Josh Burchlel in from the left was touched on by Everitt.
A keenly contested encounter saw Dulwich’s Ngakam and Invicta’s Dickson return to the field with head bandages after having to go off for treatment.
There was a scare for Invicta in the 71st minute when a dangerous Myall ball in from the left was deflected across the goalmouth for another corner on the right.
There were bookings for Dulwich’s Ryan Adams (83rd minute challenge on Arnold-Smith)and Invicta’s Dickson (47th minute challenge on Plummer).
Local player Lee Radford was on the Invicta bench for the first team after a couple of recent reserve team appearances.
