Folkestone Invicta were beaten 1-0 away to Chipstead on their first visit to High Road on Tuesday night.
Chipstead started the game third from bottom in the Ryman League Division One South table, just one place above the relegation zone, but won the game thanks to a 75th minute goal from substitute Aaran Cole-Bolt.
The game seemed to be drifting towards a goalless draw when COLE-BOLT’s low shot from the edge of the penalty area went in off the post.
Invicta then had a great chance to equalise just a minute later but captain James Dryden shot wide from close range after a good Liam Friend ball in from the left.
With James Everitt (hamstring) and Kieran Byrne (knee) missing, Invicta gave a debut to new striker Jacob Arnold-Smith, a youth team player at Gillingham who has also represented Faversham Town this season.
Josh Vincent also came back into the side after missing Saturday’s home defeat against Cray Wanderers with a virus.
A fifth minute Josh Burchell header was touched over the crossbar following a free kick on the right after a foul by Chris Head on Arnold-Smith.
And Arnold-Smith himself made room for himself down the left hand side of the penalty area and shot at goalkeeper Paul Smith two minutes later.
