Folkestone Invicta twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw way to Dulwich Hamlet in Tuesday night’s friendly at Champion Hill. Ellis Remy made it 2-2 with a goal just 18 seconds after the interval following a spell of three goals in a five minutes midway through the first half which had put the home side 2-1 up. Dulwich opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Stanley MUGUO thumped the ball into the net from close range after centre half Shane Mangodza had headed on a Phil Williams corner from the right. But Invicta were level within a minute courtesy of a spectacular Micheal EVERITT chip from out wide on the left flank which sailed over goalkeeper Chuck Martini and into the far corner of the net. The home side soon restored their lead in the 23rd minute from another Williams corner on the right which was headed in by Benson KPAKA. REMY made it 2-2 right at the start of the second half when he picked his spot after striking partner Damian Abel had unselfishly squared the ball across to him after being played in down the left hand side. What Invicta will not have wanted was first half injuries to new striker Leigh Bremner – on his return to his former club – and goalkeeper Charlie Mitten with a recurrence of his thigh injury. Ryan Briggs, who also once had a brief spell with Dulwich, also had to be replaced towards the end of the second half with a knock. Dulwich had gone close in the third minute when a Shawn Beveney shot rattled the post, while Bremner shot at Martini at the other end following a James Corbett through ball. A fifth minute Remy shot struck home right back Stuart Booth in the face after an attack also involving Micheal Eveirtt and David Piper. But Dulwich went forward again and striker Daniel Morris burst through the middle after nine minutes and shot just wide of the post. Mitten pushed the ball over the crossbar after 11 minutes when striker Morris let fly from outside the penalty area and Beveney headed over from Williams’ subsequent corner. Following the flurry of first half goals, Mitten made a good save from Morris after 27 minutes when Veli Haki’s ball through the middle put the striker clear. Kevin Watson then shot over from close range for Invicta six minutes later with a good chance to equalise after Corbett had played a corner from the right back to Briggs. 17-year-old Stonebridge was called into action when Mitten’s leg gave way again after he had cleared the ball and Stonebridge got his hands to the ball when Morris tried to lob him after a ball down the right hand channel just before half time. Remy’s goal straight after the interval brought Invicta level and the visitors enjoyed more of the game during the second half. The pacy Beveney broke dangerously down the left hand side after 52 minutes but pulled the ball back just behind his in-coming team mates in the middle. Invicta were then close in the 65th minute when a header from new captain Roland Edge was cleared off the line following a corner on the right. And a well-struck Abel shot from just outside the penalty area was touched round the post by goalkeeper Martini nine minutes later after a good run and footwork from Corbett. Remy shot at goalkeeper Martini in the 82nd minute following a move involving both Corbett and substitute James Everitt. Dulwich had pace up front and substitute Craig Braham put in a dangerous cross after racing down the left hand side in the 90th minute following a ball from Beveney. |
